$38 Million Nursing Home Chain Settlement Is Largest In US History

A large nursing home chain just offered the largest settlement in the history of the United States. The chain was investigated for numerous claims of abuse and neglect. The claims were brought forth by whistleblowers that exposed the various forms of abuse including fractures, malnutrition, bed sores and other complications of care that were serious. The abuse and neglect were due to improper staffing.

“We have to remember that there are real individuals and real families across the country who feel helpless when facing the nursing home industry,” said an attorney who handles nursing home neglect cases, although not involved in the case. “The hope is that this settlement sends a strong message to other nursing homes who ignore and neglect the elderly to increase profits.”  For more, read the story.
