$55 Million Awarded To Families Of Neglect And Abuse Still Unpaid Since 2010

Two nursing home companies found liable for abuse and neglect in a lawsuit still have not paid the $55 million a jury awarded to the families and victims of the abuse in 2010. The nursing home owners are saying they do not have the funding to pay the award.

The issue is that funds may have been transferred to a shell company to protect the assets. The lawsuit has been moved to bankruptcy court. The shell companies have not been found liable for the abuse or to pay the money, because they are not directly involved in patient care. For more, read the story.
