Assisted Living Facility Operator Arrested For Stealing Resident's Money

An assisted living facility was shut down after an investigation uncovered financial elder abuse. According to police, the women caring for the residents of the small facility stole $28,000 from one of her client's bank accounts and gambled much of the money away at a local casino.

Police arrested the woman, 54, after they discovered the theft. Police were contacted by Adult Protective Services when inconsistencies were discovered in the woman's banking. The woman confessed to committing the crime over a two-year period. She had gambled away at least $12,000 and had additional funds stashed in a safe at her home. Police are still looking into whether there are any additional victims. For more, read the story.
