Assisted Living Facility Resident Found Dead Under Bridge

An assisted living resident was found dead early Friday morning below a bridge. According to the Sheriff's Office, the 61-year-old man, had reportedly left the facility between 1-2 a.m. According to police, the resident had been documented as having medical and mental challenges and was placed in the facility by his guardian.

Police searched two counties after being notified that the man had gone missing.  Two hours after the man was reported missing, police got a call regarding a man lying in a ditch near the facility. The police went to the ditch however there were not able to locate anyone.

When the sun came up the next morning, a maintenance worker and two other residents walked to a nearby bridge where they found the man's body below the edge of the bridge. Police stated that the man, who was pronounced dead on the spot, received fatal injuries. Officers say the elderly man had been missing from the facility on five separate occasions since early August 2011. For more, read the story.
