Bed Bugs Cause Nursing Home Scare and Halt Patient Visitation

A nursing home facility recently halted family visits during a bed bug outbreak. The bugs were believed to have been brought in by visitors to a resident at the home. The bed bugs spread to two rooms before the facility noticed them. The facility patients had to be quarantined for one week as the staff worked to eliminate the bugs.

The families were able to return to visit loved ones after the bed bugs were eliminated through washing linens and the assistance of a pest control. There has been an increase in the sighting of bed bugs after they were once believed to have been eliminated from the United States. Nursing homes are no exception to the possibility of bed bugs.
