Cabinet Falls on Elderly Woman Leading to her Death; Nursing Home Settles

A nursing home has settled the claim of the family members of a 90 year old nun who was crushed and killed by a falling cabinet in the facility.  After the incident, the nursing home lead the family to believe that a newly installed floor-to-ceiling cabinet had toppled onto the nun, killing her and that the occurrence was the first-of-its-kind at the facility.

However, investigative reports revealed that two other residents had been severely injured from cabinets falling on them at the facility. Since the recent death, the facility has taken steps to secure the cabinets to the wall properly.  Following the investigation, the county run facility was fined a record $17-thousand dollars for "jeopardizing resident health and safety."
