Caregiver Sentenced to 31 Months Prison for Criminal Nelgect of Elderly Woman

A care giver has been sentenced to 31 months in prison following a terrible case of nursing home abuse. A resident of the adult home died from untreated bed sores that had were so deep the woman's bone was exposed. The sores were the direct result of sever neglect by the woman's care giver.

The owner of the facility also pled guilty to second-degree criminal mistreatment. She admitted to causing an "imminent and substantial risk of death" by not providing adequate care to the resident. The home was also cited for employing several caregivers with disqualifying felony convictions. For more, read the story.
