Caretaker Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Elderly Woman

A caretaker was arrested Saturday for alleged sexual assault with intent to commit rape of an 80-year-old woman. the man had previously cared for the woman's husband, who died in February, and was rehired by her family on May 2 to care for the woman, authorities said. According to police, there were two incidents.

According to police, the suspect sexually assaulted the elderly woman on two different home visits.The suspect also tried to have intercourse with the victim, police said. The man has been employed by an official home care agency, but was working as a freelance caregiver for the victim, authorities said. The company said it was "cooperating fully with the Sheriff’s Department, as we ourselves would like to see justice and protection for the elderly who we are here to serve."
