Caretaker Arrested On Charges of Aggravated Neglect of Elderly

A caretaker was arrested last week after her 88-year-old client was taken to the hospital with severe pressure ulcers and an infection, authorities said. The elderly woman, who has dementia, also appeared to be malnourished, according to the arrest report.

Investigative reports reveal that the woman had serious wounds on her hips, shin, back and feet as well as a sacral ulcer that was two inches deep and revealed the woman's bone.The 42-year-old caretaker told the investigator she looked after the woman every day at her home. She is not a licensed caretaker and was hired by the victim's son about a year ago, the report said.

The elderly woman was taken to the hospital on June 15, after a home healthcare agency witnessed the wounds. Shortly after , the caretaker was arrested on a charge of aggravated neglect of an elderly person. For more, read the story.
