Caretaker In Jail After Slapping Elderly, Disabled Woman for Soiling Herself

The former caretaker of a 64-year-old, developmentally disabled, woman is behind bars after being sentenced to jail last week for assaulting the woman a year ago. At a jury trial in November, officials said the caretaker slapped the elderly woman and shoved her undergarments in her face after she accidentally soiled herself.

The day after the abuse, others noticed the woman's cheeks were puffy and her lip was cut. When pressed, she admitted the caretaker had done it. He denied it at trial, but the jury found him guilty of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. At sentencing he admitted the need to take responsibility for his actions. The caretaker was sentenced to 270 days in jail. For more, read the story.
