Certified Nurse Aide Charged with Stealing Rings Right Off Nursing Home Patients' Fingers

Prosecutors say a nursing assistant is accused of stealing rings and other jewelry from at least six elderly nursing home patients. The 41-year-old nurses' aide was arrested yesterday at the nursing home. According to detectives, the woman admitted to the theft. She also admitted that in some cases, she stole the rings right off patients' fingers.

The theft was discovered when a woman called police after seeing that her 87-year-old husband was missing two of his rings. The aide was also accused of stealing the wedding ring of a 93-year-old patient who passed away earlier this year. The facility where the thefts occurred is a nursing home that specializes in advanced dementia care. The family of one of the victims said the aides behavior is "about as low as you can go." A judge has released the woman without bail and ordered her to stay away from the victims. For more, read the story.
