Doctor Sued In Connection With Severe Bedsores Which Led to Patient's Death

Family members of an elderly woman, who died five years ago from severe pressure ulcers (also know as pressure sores, decubitus ulcers, decubitus sores, and bed sores) which became infected,requested a court to find the woman's doctor liable for neglecting the sores.

The independent physician is accused in the malpractice lawsuit of substituting observations of nurses for actual exams as the woman's bedsores deteriorated. The patient, 67, a small bedsore at the hospital where she underwent back surgery following a fall. After being transferred to a rehab facility, the bedsore grew large, became infected, and caused her death. For more, read the story.
