Elderly Woman Dies After Being Hit By Delivery Truck in Nursing Home Parking Lot

An elderly woman was pronounced dead last week after being hit by a truck in a nursing home parking lot Friday morning. The 81-year-old woman was struck just after 11 a.m. in the facility parking lot by a delivery truck, said police.

Officials who responded to the scene found the woman with severe injuries, including a fractured hip. Police requested a helicopter to transport the woman to a medical center for immediate treatment of "severely critical injuries", but the request was later canceled. Instead, police transported her to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead at 12:35 p.m., reported police. It is unclear at this time whether the elderly woman was a resident of the facility.
