Elderly Woman Kills Husband and Self at Retirement Community

Police suspect that an elderly woman shot her husband before killing herself at a retirement community because she was discouraged by his poor state. Police say they believe the 83-year-old woman was distraught over her dementia-patient husband and fatally shot him then turned the gun on herself.

A church volunteer told police that the woman was upset about her husband's deteriorating health Friday night. When the volunteer came back Saturday morning, she found the woman dead and her husband badly wounded in their bed. The woman's husband was seventy-six-year-old. He died at a hospital the next day. Police recovered a handgun at the scene of the crime. For more, read the story.
