Elderly Woman Suffers Frostbite on Parts of Her Face After Oxygen Tank Leaked

The family of a 100-year-old woman who sustained frostbite to her face after the oxygen tank she was using leaked and froze inside her nostrils, have filed a lawsuit claiming neglect by the facility, the equipment distributor, and the manufacturer of the tank.

In the complaint, , filed in late February, the elderly woman's family alleges that while she was receiving liquid oxygen from a portable tank a cloud of white vapor began to surround the woman's face and the oxygen tubing froze to her neck and cheeks and the tip of the nose was also frozen. According to the complaint, an employee was assisting the resident at the time, and witnessed the leak. Due to the equipment malfunction, the woman sustained frostbite and became further disabled and debilitated. She passed away on lees than two months after the incident. For more, read the story.
