Family Files Lawsuit After Woman Developes Pressure Ulcers and Sepsis in Nursing Home

The family of a 90-year-old woman has sued a nursing care facility alleging of that she was neglected on a repeated basis. this neglect, the family claims lead to a serious infection which required hospitalization. According to the suit, filed last month,  during the month long admission at the home, the staff “repeatedly failed to perform basic wound monitoring, nutrition and hydration,” so that the woman’s developed severe pressure ulcers (also known as bed sores,  pressure sores, decubitus sores, and decubitus ulcers).

According to the attorney for the woman's family, “When my client was evaluating the facility for her mother, she was given documents that described the home as having experts in wound care, but while she was there wounds became huge and infected.”  A comparison of the health care facility with other nursing facilities in the state showed that they spent less licensed staff hours per patient than many other facilities in the state.
