Family Sues Hospital After Outbreak Related Death

The family of a man who died at one Veterans Affairs Hospital has sued the facility. The man, 87, died lat month from the Legionnaires' disease that he contracted at the facility.  During the man's hospitalization, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention was investigating a possible Legionnaires outbreak at the facility.

The outbreak, which affected at least four VA patients, was blamed on the failure of a water treatment system.  The man was one of the patients who contracted Legionnaires in mid November. He died on November 23 of a heart ailment with Legionnaires listed as a contributing cause of death. For more, read the story.
