Former Aide At Assisted Living Facility Goes To Prison After Hitting Helpless Resident in the Face

A former aide at an assisted living facility received a prison sentence Wednesday after admitting she assaulted a patient in her care.

The 32-year-old woman was sentenced to four to 23 months after pleading guilty to a charge of simple assault.

On the day of the incident, the aide was responsible for giving a 90-year-old patient a shower. The client was wheelchair-bound and incapable of speaking.

Prior to being alone with the patient, coworkers had noticed that the aide appeared to be agitated.

Some 15 minutes later, they noticed her wiping blood from her patient's face, where they saw several bruises and abrasions, according to the criminal complaint.

The former aide also must pay a $100 fine and undergo anger management counseling as part of her sentence. For more, read the story.
