Former Nursing Home Chief Jailed

A former nursing home administrator accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from residents in her care remained in county jail. The charges allege she stole about $100,000 from a total of 18 victims and according to a police detective, the loss of patient funds was discovered through an internal audit.

The administrator was arrested last week at her home on a warrant that had been issued by a judge and is charged with 12 felony counts of financial exploitation of an elderly person, theft, by deception, and forgery.

A police detective, who was also involved in the investigation, was told that regardless of the whether the resident was private pay, insurance pay, Medicaid only pay, or Social Security only pay, has money in his or her account, the money is kept in one pool and the administrator was the authorized signer on the account.
