Government Puts Nursing Home And Hospice Relationships Under Scrutiny

The relationship between nursing homes and hospice care providers is under scrutiny as deeper investigations occur. The government is cracking down on illegal usage of funding and improper care between the two entities. Nursing homes and hospice providers are required to pay fines for any illegal activity.

Some of the activity includes providing Certified Nursing Assistants to nursing homes for hospice care that is unnecessary when no medical request has been provided. Also, hospice staff have sat with patients around the clock without providing medical care. Hospice staff have also incentivized nursing homes by offering gift cares to nursing home staff. All of these actions are considered illegal and eligible for fines. For more, read the story.
