Hidden Camera Reveals Aides Abusing 98-Year-Old Nursing Home Patient

One family decided to investigate the nursing home where their loved one was living when they found the woman with bruises and a busted lip.  One family member said the elderly woman kept saying that people were hitting her. The facility, however, told the woman's granddaughters that she fell out of her wheelchair.  In the effort to investigate, the family installed a hidden camera.

Footage captured on the hidden camera shows an employee, hired to provide care to the woman, pulling her up by the arm causing the patient to fall back and cry out, "somebody help me."  The employee is also seen slapping the patient. She also mocked the patient, calling her ugly and retarded.

Later in the video, a second employee is seen being extremely rough with the frail 98-year-old resident. He can be seen on the tape hitting the woman. Her family says the video revealed that the staff had no compassion at all for their patients.

The family has filed a complaint with police and both aides were indicted in 2012 for felony elder abuse. Today, the aides have yet to be sentenced. Police have told the family that they are unable to locate one of the suspects. However, reporters with FOX4 found the woman still working as a nurse aide at another nursing home. Police arrested the woman the following day. For more, read the story.
