Jury Awards Huge Verdict in Nursing Home Case

A jury decides a verdict in a nursing home negligence case should send a message to those that were liable for damages including ongoing injuries and suffering of a 69 year-old nursing home resident. The resident had repeated falls and was properly supervised in her three-year stay at the nursing home.

After years of battling in court, it took the jury a little over an hour to rule in favor of the plaintiff that the treatment of the nursing home resident proves that the nursing home acted carelessly and irresponsible.

The companies for the nursing home involved in the lawsuit stopped participating in the suit, and a default judgment was entered against them. Now it is time to try and collect on the awarded damages in whatever ways permissible from the companies. This is not the first lawsuit against the nursing home company and also not the first one that they have defaulted in. For more, read the story.
