Mentally Ill Woman Found Chained to Table at Personal Care Home; Caregiver Arrested

Police recently arrested a caregiver accused of shackling a mentally ill resident to a table. According to investigators, an exterminator was at the facility and witnessed the woman on the ground, chained to the table. The exterminator called 911 and reported the situation. He said the woman's hands and feet were cuffed, and a chain from the woman's feet to her hands was also around a table.

The caregiver claimed she had an order to restrain the 65-year-old resident "for her own good." However, police say there is no such order. The caregiver has been arrested and charged with elder abuse and false imprisonment. The caregiver has been arrested previously in another county for operating an unlicensed care facility. The victim is now recovering at  a hospital. For more, read the story.
