Newport News Care Facility Closed After Department of Social Services Investigation

According to the Daily Press, a Newport News Assisted Living Facility closed its doors this week after reports of ongoing care issues. Governors Inn was one of six assisted living facilities operated by ProPlusCare, Inc.  The facility gave the 43 residents less than a month to find new accommodations.

The former president of ProPlusCare, Inc. stepped down on November 2 after his license to operate assisted living facilities was temporarily suspended in September following investigations by the Department of Social Services at Ashwood Assisted Living in Hampton and Madison Retirement Center in Williamsburg. Two other officials of the company also had their licenses revoked by the State Board of Long-Term Care Administrators on October 31. For more, read the story
