Numerous Nursing Homes Receive Fines For Medication Errors, Injuries
A series of incidents led seven different nursing homes to be fined. The incidents included medication errors and burned and broken legs, leading to hospital stays for most of the patients. Many of the administrators of the nursing homes declined comments when asked, or could not be reached.
In one particular incident a patient with diabetes was hospitalized because a nurse gave him four times the dosage on four different occasions. Another patient was stood up on two feet, rather than using a lift. The incident resulted in a broken leg for the patient and disciplinary action for the aides. Yet another patient was left in urine all not when a nurse did not answer the patient’s call bell and the same patient neglected to receive pain medication as prescribed. For more, read the story.
