Nursing Home and Rehab Center Faces Serious Mistreatment Allegations

One Rehab Center and Nursing Home is in the spotlight after allegations of poor treatment have surfaced. One woman whose grandmother was a resident at the facility said she found roaches in her bathroom and in her bed.She also claims that during one visit, she found her grandmother covered in ants, unable to move or brush the bugs off. She said her grandmother would often spill her food while trying to feed herself and sometimes she would be in bed at 10:00 still covered with food from dinner.

The granddaughter also recalled, "they would throw dirty cloths just throw them in the bathroom. Alot of times they would be soiled, you know, with feces."  Similar complaints have been filed with the Department of Health over the years. The agency reviewed personal care documents kept by the nursing home and found one resident had no baths documented for an entire month.

Another resident at the home complained she had to wait on the toilet for three and a half hours before someone came to assist her. Department of Health documents also show repeated complaints about aides not answering the call bells in patients' rooms.

The facility acknowledges the allegations and says that they are working on resolving all family concerns. They hired a new Administrator last January and have also hired some new staff members. The facility also says they are focusing on proper training of the employees. For more, read the story.
