Nursing Home Caregiver Charged With Abuse Of Patient After Caught On Video

A nursing home caregiver was sentenced to 10 years of suspended time for abusing an elderly woman. The family videoed their loved one’s care and caught her caregiver verbally abusing, covering the patient’s mouth and pouring water down her feeding tube. The caregiver showed little remorse, telling the judge she was happy she was caught.

The family was saddened by the situation. “Instead of just walking away she chose to stay and hurt my mother and take her agony and her life, whatever that was, out on her," said the victim’s daughter. "We hope that there will be nursing home reform and that others will not have to endure what my mother, what our family has endured over these months." For more, read the story.
