Nursing Home Closes Due to Neglect

A nursing home is closed after an investigation was launched when patients’ relatives complained about neglect of their family members. The decision to shut down the facility comes after an undercover investigation revealed evidence of patient neglect and multiple health department inspections found repeated patterns of substandard care at the 100-bed facility.

With the permission of patients’ families, agents installed hidden surveillance cameras in several rooms and recorded instances where staff members did not provide proper medical, nutritional or personal care and falsified documents to make it appear as if the proper treatment was being provided. Once those findings were turned over to the health department, the inspections uncovered multiple violations in infection control, treatment, and nutrition.

Officials plan to terminate the license of the nursing home in 60days because dozens of patients weren’t getting the care they deserved.  For more, read the story.
