Nursing Home Dementia Patient Left To Roll In The Floor For Hours

A nursing home is being highlighted for an incident involving a dementia patient that was found rolling in the floor. The patient had been on the floor for four hours. An inspector visiting the facility identified the patient and noted the incident to the facility.

One caregiver at another home was upset. "Dementia patients are so vulnerable and often they don't know what they're doing and need that extra assistance so it's really important they're monitored and not left alone.” The nurse also said the patient should have been checked every 30 minutes, which would have prevented a four hour time period for the patient to be in the floor.
