Nursing Home Lawsuit Cites Three Wrongful Deaths

A lawsuit has been filed against on behalf of three patients at multiple nursing homes for wrongful death. The patients all died within weeks of being discharged from one-star rated nursing homes all located in the same area. Families are citing abuse and neglect for the cause of death. The lawsuits cited the complications that led to the death of each patient, including kidney failure, bedsores, C. diff, infection, and low blood pressure.

The complaint filed with the court addressed staffing decisions based on budgets, rather than the needs of patients. Also, according to the lawsuit, "Decisions regarding which residents would be admitted was driven not by whether the nursing home could meet the residents' needs, but by the amount the defendants would be paid to care for the defendant.” For more, read the story.
