Nursing Home Patients Cannot Be Denied Medical Records

Loved ones of nursing home patients are reminded that they have a right to view medical records. They are also encouraged to review them to verify the care their loved one is receiving. “We want to make sure the public is aware of this type of information because evaluating a patient's medical chart is a good way to keep track of the care your loved one is receiving.”

Some nursing homes deny access to medical records. This denial can be an attempt to cover up any deficiencies in care, or to falsify records. However, families are always entitled to review medical records. For more, read the story.
