Nursing Home Resident Drowns in Bath Tub

Police are conducting a death investigation after a woman was found drowned in a bathtub in a nursing home, officials said today. The female resident of the nursing home was 51 years-old. An autopsy conducted Monday determined that she did indeed die from drowning, but officials could not indicate from the autopsy whether the woman's death involved any foul play.

Officials said the woman was mentally ill and lived at the home. Police were called to the nursing home at 8:40 p.m. after staff members at the nursing home found the woman unconscious in the bathtub with the water still running. After staff  failed at attempts to revive her, they called paramedics to the home who then took her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The investigation into the surrounding circumstances of the woman's death are ongoing. For more, read the story.
