Nursing Home Resident Hit By Car Two Years After Same Home Cited For Resident's Car Accident Death

A car accident outside a nursing home that critically injured a resident was the second such incident in less than two years at the facility.

A resident was hit after leaving the nursing home early one morning. The 70-year-old remained in "very critical" condition two days later.

Nursing home staff told authorities she was taking her daily walk. State health officials are investigating the accident.

In 2008, another resident left the home unnoticed. He missed three meals and medication. The next day a relative told employees he had died in a car accident.

State health officials cited the facility for improper supervision and ordered it to develop procedures for absences exceeding 24 hours. For more, read the story.
