Nursing Home Residents Plant Vegetable Garden in their Community

Residents from one care home have been getting their hands dirty this week as part of a community campaign. "Community Crops" is an initiative aiming to promote the health benefits associated with gardening and growing your own fruit and vegetables. The campaign provides a great chance for the nursing home residents to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

The nursing home is hosting a special Sow and Grow event tomorrow from 2.30pm, where volunteers will be helping green fingered residents plant fledgling crops in the garden. The nursing home manager said: “Already our residents are feeling a huge sense of achievement and have taken great pleasure in watching their seedlings grow.
“We’ve been carefully tending and watering the plants and are really looking forward to the next step of planting the seedlings outside. For more, read the story.
