Optometrist Overbills Nursing Home Patients Receiving A 33 Month Sentence Plus Fines

A nursing home optometrist is being sentenced to 33 months for overbilling nursing home patients. Not only did he bill excessively, but he also billed for non-existent treatments. The FBI investigated his Medicare billing and found numerous falsehoods.

He billed more than 59 patients in 3 hours, including one patient that did not have eyes. These discrepancies led to charges against him once the falsified information was proven untrue. In addition to his sentence, he is being fined for $500,000 in restitution. For more, read the story.
