Police are trying to determine why a man at an assisted living center beat another resident to death late Wednesday night.
The beating happened just outside the side door of the assisted living center.

There were staff people in the next room folding towels and their attention was drawn outside when they heard a commotion.

When officers arrived, they found the victim unconscious. He suffered from an apparent head injury and died at the scene.
The assailant ran a few blocks but authorities caught him quickly. He has been charged with murder. For more, read the story.
