Respiratory Ilness Affects 21 Residents at One Health & Rehab Center

One health and rehab center reported that 21 residents have been suffering from generalized respiratory illness. the symptoms include coughing and congestion. As of Friday, no residents have been hospitalized, but it was unknown whether the number of residents affected or their conditions have changed since then, he said.

Residents with symptoms have been tested, but more specialized tests are being done this week to pinpoint the cause of the outbreak and to help determine treatment. The executive director of the facility has issued a statement saying the nursing home was responding to a possible respiratory virus by working in consultation with the Health Department and with the physicians of the residents affected.

Licensed for 473 beds, the facility is the largest nursing home in it's state, according to the health department. The facility has seven pending lawsuits related to poor care and has already been cited for 35 violations so far this year by state and federal regulators. For more, read the story.
