Social Worker Arrested for Stealing From Elderly Man

A social worker from was arrested this week for allegedly stealing $10,000 from the elderly man she was supposed to be caring for, police said. The social worker, 30-years-old, was assigned to the man by the Department of the Aging in early 2010, police said. She was arrested at Wednesday morning and charged with five counts of second-degree forgery and one count of third-degree grand larceny.

The elderly man, who lives in a mobile home community, told police the social worker had written multiple checks totaling $10,000 to herself from his account between mid-April and mid-May. Police say the woman worked for a private company under contract to provide social workers for the county. For more, read the story.
