State Investigates Possible Abuse By Caregiver Towards Man With Cerebral Palsy

Investigators have said that a 26-year-old man with cerebral palsy may have been abused by caregivers at the nursing home where he lived.  Allegations that two caregivers at the facility may have used excessive force on the patient are being investigated.

The man's arm was fractured and his body was badly bruised after the workers were trying to restrain him. The caregivers involved have been suspended, and the sheriff’s office and the state agency are investigating.

“Our main concern is the health and safety of our individuals, and we have zero tolerance for any abuse and neglect, said a spokes person of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. “We want to know exactly what happened also to make those corrective actions.”

The nursing home was also investigated back in 2008 for a complaint as well.
The following statement was released from the company that operates the home. The facility is cooperating with both investigations. For more, read the story.
