Two Male Nurses Caught On Camera Sexually Assaulting 98-Year-Old Patient

Two male nurses are being investigated after they were caught on camera fondling a 98-year-old stroke victim in her home. The footage, caught on a security camera in March 2011, shows  the two male nurses apparently masturbating and groping each other at the foot of the 98-year-old patient's bed, as the patient lies unable to speak or move her hands because of a stroke. Video footage also revealed one of the nurses apparently undoing his scrubs, exposing himself, and kissing the woman.

The attorney representing the victim and her family has called the incident the most shocking case of elder abuse he's seen in 15 years of practice as an advocate for the elderly. As a result of the abuse, the nurses have had their licenses temporarily suspended and could face criminal charges. The State Department of Consumer Affairs has also been investigating the company that employed the nurses. A department spokesman commented that they are working to shut the company down.

The victim of the abuse suffers from right-side paralysis since experiencing a stroke in 2005. The nurses were hired to work two 12-hour shifts at her home.  The attorney representing the victim said the woman's daughter suspected her mother was not being cared for properly, but complaints with the company fell on deaf ears until family members installed the security camera. A hearing to permanently suspend the nurses' licenses is scheduled for next week. The victim's family has sued the two men and their employer for alleged fraud, elder abuse, and negligent supervision. For more, read the story.
