Virginia Social Worker Sentenced to Prison For Stealing From Elderly

Two residents of Galax, Virginia have been sentenced to prison for stealing from the elderly. U.S. Attorney Timothy Heaphy says 36-year-old Jennifer Edward Hall was sentenced Monday to one year, nine months and forty-seven-year-old Bernard Dale Satterfield was sentenced to one year, four months. The two were ordered to pay a combined $60,000.00 in restitution.

Hall was a Grayson County social worker, and Satterfield was a companion care provider hired to work with her. They admitted stealing from an 88-year-old dementia patient's bank account. Hall, who pleaded guilty to three fraud counts, also admitted stealing from an additional 81-year-old victim. Satterfield pleaded guilty to two fraud counts. For more, read the story.
